Listen to "Stone Rollin" by Raphael Saadiq →
NPR probably won’t be streaming this album for much longer since it came out this week. Highly recommended listening.

To Bell the Cat →
I’m playing at 1919 on the 30th. Come watch me if you’ll be around. This show will be all acoustic. I’m waiting on a new bridge for my electric guitar, but once that comes in I’ll be working on a set using my loop station. Can’t wait to start playing shows with that.

BYCATCH →
“Perhaps the quintessential example of bullshit, bycatch refers to sea creatures caught by accident — except not really “by accident,” since bycatch has been consciously built into contemporary fishing methods. Modern fishing tends to involve much technology and few fishers. This combination leads to massive catches with massive amounts of bycatch. Take shrimp, for example. The average...

Cold Night, Warm Drink
This may seem like a strange concoction, but I’m basically drinking a warm banana smoothie. Surprisingly, it takes on the consistency of a latte.
Ingredients:
1 cup milk of choice (I used almond)
1 medium banana
pinch of saffron
aprox 1 tsp cinnamon
2 cardamom seeds
Directions:
Blend the milk and banana together and pour into a small saucepan set over high heat.
Add remaining...

Yeah Egypt!
I’m happy for the people of Egypt, but can’t help but feel a little worried for them as well. Let’s hope for them that things turn over smoothly and, in the true sense of the word, run democratically.

Ladybug, Ladybug!
The new year has been bringing me to doing things I’ve always wanted to incorporate into my life. Gardening being one of those. I decided to start with a few plants to get myself into the swing of things. Swiss chard, kale, and mustard greens seemed an obvious choice considering they frequent my dinner plate. Water the plants, make sure they get adequate sun and things should be peachy,...

Revamp Under Way
Tumblr makes it too easy to reblog, and thus too easy to get lazy with my blogging. Sleep may be under way soon, but once I have the energy and time, I’m going to make this blog exclusively about art and crafts/diy*. I also just started a new blog The Free Music Project.
*Decided to just refrain from reblogging for the most part.

thought of the day.
“What we do should reflect what we believe.”
via: julialeeyoga
This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. I think the automatic inference from this idea is to reflect on if we live up to our own morals. But you can take it a step further than that. For me, it’s a harder struggle to do things that are truly best for my own being. I may believe something is...

Meteor Shower Coming Up
There’s a meteor shower lasting from aprox midnight on Monday the 13th to sunrise on Tuesday the 14th. I did a little research on the best places to see it; head away from city lights in the direction of the constellation the shower seems to radiate from. Then lie back until the horizon is on the edge of your peripheral view. This shower is unique in that it won’t really come from one...
